Hardwood Flooring FAQ’s
Do you provide free in-home measurements in Paso Robles and the surrounding areas?
Yes, we offer complimentary consultations to our Central Coast neighbors in San Luis Obispo County. First, visit our showroom to select your hardwood samples and schedule your measurement at that time. Or, give us a call, and we’ll bring the showroom to you.
What is the difference between solid and engineered hardwoods?
Solid hardwood floors can be sanded and refinished multiple times throughout their life, spanning thirty to one hundred years.
Engineered hardwood flooring features a durable real-wood surface layer over a stable core, making it more moisture-resistant and better suited for homes with concrete foundations.
How long do hardwood floors typically last?
The longevity of hardwood flooring depends on the durability of the hardwood species. Hardness factors are considered and are rated by the Janka List. The top three durable hardwood species are: European Oak, Hickory, and Brazilian Walnut.
High-quality solid hardwood floors may last up to 100 years when properly maintained. Engineered hardwoods, dependent on the surface or wear-layer, may last twenty-plus years.
Do hardwood floors increase a home’s value?
Hardwood flooring is one of the most desirable features and one of the most sought-after floors for home buyers. Quality hardwood floors often increase resale appeal and may add measurable value to a home compared to other flooring types.
Do you have an idea in mind for an entryway or turning the direction of the wood to create more interest?
We're happy to be of service! Our installers are true craftsmen in the art of hardwoods and are able to create and install patterns of herringbone, parquet, dutch & more. We also carry baseboards and are able to install these as well, or remove and replace your existing base - whichever you prefer.
