What's New In Flooring For 2020

Attending ‘The International Surfaces Event’ in Las Vegas this year, we knew going in that 2019’s innovative introductions would be hard to beat! Last year we were WOW’ed with the through-color engineered hardwood floors, waterproof core reconstruction in vinyl plank, and more and more family-friendly floors. For more on 2019’s floors click here. That was then, and this is now: Our prediction for trends in flooring for 2020 that is holding its own . . . Patterns make that Brave Patterns!

2020, The Year Of Brave Patterns In Flooring

One of the braver use of patterns we saw was by Mannington’s Adura Max APEX. This WPC (wood, plastic, composite) vinyl plank floor is a high-style, statement-maker suitable for any room in your home or office. Now available in wider widths and longer lengths. For The Love Of Herringbone

A couple of years back, we were being told that Herringbone and Chevron floors were on their way out. Of course, we knew better! At Knight’s we have first-hand knowledge on what’s hot and what’s not by what our customers are ordering, and HERRINGBONE is HOT! Manufacturers agree by specifically designing planks for these arrangements in pattern.

Vinyl Plank Is Ever-Evolving

We’re Still In The Gray

Neutrals, Naturals and Textures are the trending topic in flooring and love it or hate it, Gray is here to stay.

Emser Tile’s debut of new patterns in floor and wall tiles is remarkable. Looks in Marble with colorful veining, patterns wisp nostalgic with a feel for the traditional vibe, while other series in tile are bold and transitional. We love the new looks in Emser’s collections as there is something for every design style.

The Softer Side

It was just a few years ago, and the first time in Knight’s history, that hardwood flooring surpassed carpeting in customer purchases. Carpet is steadily on the rise, surging into the market with beautiful patterns, blended fibers, and durable, pet-friendly lines. We see this carpet comeback’s duality with Area Rugs! More and more requests are for Custom Area Rugs made from broadloom carpets (aka wall-to-wall). For instance: Selecting a wall-to-wall installation for the bedrooms and from the same carpet, customizing an area rug for the living room. It’s a natural fit. Learn more on area rugs here.

Kane Unveils New Patterns & Colorways

When we opened our Showroom in 1991, Kane Carpets was one of the first collections we showcased. Known for their superior quality and innovation in design for a broadloom carpet, the collections define a high style that are easily customized into area rugs.

What Happens In Vegas . . .

Typically, what happens in Vegas really doesn’t stay in Vegas, especially when The International Surface Event comes to town with all of the new product offerings. Our focus in flooring is selecting quality without compromise to bring home to our showroom.

Floor Focus Notables

  • HOMERWOOD Premium Hardwoods introduces a “Quick-Ship” program featuring engineered and solid hardwoods in Hickory and White Oak with smooth or wire-brushed finishes.

  • COREtec goes big with 10” wide and 82” long vinyl plank in 12 colorways in their new Grande series

  • PHENIX CARPETS will be the latest addition to our carpet collections. Coming Soon!

  • HALLMARK FLOORS finally releases its color coordinated Hardwood Floor to Vinyl Plank floors which they unveiled in 2019.

  • HIGH-SHEEN, BRASS and CLASSIC BLUE. During our meeting the discussion of these three classics was a fun topic. We are seeing more and more requests for traditional, high-sheen hardwood floors, and one surprise is that stair rods are making a comeback - even in brass! Of course, The Color of the Year - Classic Blue is everywhere.
